Tomorrow is the start of Banned Books Week!
I was invited to participate in a show held at the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library which opens this Sunday (Sept. 22) at noon for those who live in and around Indianapolis (home of Vonnegut, duh). It’s starting to get a bit of press too.
When I was invited I got to choose any banned or in-danger book I wanted so of course I snatched up a Vonnegut book to re-imagine a cover for. I lived there for a short time and have always loved his books, even very seriously considered getting Daffodil 11 tattooed on me after living there. Let’s see how many catch that one!
It’s an important subject for me, banning books is the opposite of saving people from destructive information. The act in itself is damning and painful. It does nothing.
Check out the show, there are events going on all week!
